San Francisco, California - The Boston College coed sailing team grabbed six of the first seven races in the 2009 Team Race National Championship in Day 1 of sailing action. The conditions for sailing were excellent, with winds building to 18 knots in the afternoon. BC's only loss of the day came to St. Mary's in the first race of the day.
The Eagles were behind off the start line, but managed to chase well, passing two boats on the first leg. St. Mary's, however, was quick to regain control of the race at the leeward mark and the Eagles were unable to recover. Following that first loss, BC went on to win seven straight races.
All the racing is being broadcast live on www.sailgroove.org. Racing resumes tomorrow at 9:30 Pacific Time.
