Dean Shuts Down No. 16 Miami Again
Wiswall Leads BC Past No. 13 Georgia Tech
DURHAM, N.C. - Sophomores Pat Dean and Mickey Wiswall were both named to the 2009 ACC Baseball All-Tournament Team, released on Sunday following the championship game.
Dean was one of two pitchers selected to the team after his dominating performance against No. 16 Miami on Friday in a 10-1 win. Dean allowed one run through 7.0 innings, scattered eight hits and fanned five while not issuing a walk. It was his second victory against the Hurricanes this month.
Wiswall picked up the honor at third base after having a monster day at the plate against No. 13 Georgia Tech on Thursday in a 7-3 win. He went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI and he drove in the Eagles' first five runs of the day. Wiswall batted a team-high .433 in the three games.
The Eagles (33-24) finished their first-ever ACC Championship bid with a 2-1 record, which was tied for the second-best record in pool play. Boston College finished the championship in impressive fashion and bolstered its NCAA Championship resume by beating the Yellow Jackets and Hurricanes by a combined 17-4.
The 2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship 64-team field, with first-round regional pairings and site assignments, will be revealed in a live, half-hour telecast on ESPN on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
