Carolyn Swords Earns ACC Honor

Greensboro, NC - Boston College sophomore Carolyn Swords was named to the 2009 ACC All-Tournament second team today as announced by the conference this afternoon.
Boston College finished the tournament 1-1 after defeating Miami in the first game, 76-59, on March 5. Swords had 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. In the quarterfinal game against Florida State, Swords fouled out with 10 minutes to play and finished with 17 points, 7-for-8 from the field, five rebounds and two blocks. In the two games, she averaged 18.5 points a game, six rebounds, two blocks and shot 81.5 percent from the floor.
Swords, a native of Sudbury, Mass., who was named to the All-ACC second team last week, also earned a spot on the 2009All-ACC Academic team for the second time in her career.
The Eagles 6-foot-6 center is averaging 15.3 points while shooting 68.5 percent from the floor. She leads the Boston College in rebounds with an 8.9 average. Swords joined the 500-Point-500-Rebound Club in the final regular season game.
