Women's Ice Hockey Faces New Hampshire for Hockey East Championship

In their fourth match-up of the season, the No. 6 Boston College women's ice hockey team will take on the No. 5 University of New Hampshire in the Hockey East Championship game at 12:30 p.m.
The winner of the game will gain an automatic bid into the NCAA Regionals next weekend.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season, third at the Whittemore Center. UNH holds a 2-0-1 record against the Eagles this season. The tie coming in the first meeting of the season, with the Wildcats winning the extra point under the new Hockey East shootout format.
Tournament History...
The Eagles advance to the championship game after defeating Boston University 3-2 in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers landed an early goal, but BC tied the game before the end of the first and took the lead sixteen seconds into the second frame. Juniors Kelli Stack and Allie Thunstrom landed a 1-2 punch in the game with Stack scoring the game tying goal off a breakaway courtsey of Thunstrom and Thunstrom scoring the go ahead goal with an assist from Stack. Stack would finish the game with 3 points (1g, 2a). Junior goaltender Molly Schaus made 36 saves in the game, 18 in the first period along to propel the Eagles into the championship round.
Meeting of the All-Stars...
Three members of the Eagles earned Hockey East first team All-Star honors at Friday night's Hockey East awards banquet. Juniors Kelli Stack and Molly Schaus along with senior assistant captain Maggie Taverna were named to the first team. They will face off on Sunday against UNH which also placed three of its members on the first team as well.
Going Streaking...
Both teams enter the championship tilt on unbeaten streaks, BC has not lost a game since January 30, bringing a eight game unbeaten streak (6-0-2). The Wildcats are riding a 14 game unbeaten streak (14-0-0) in to the game. This is UNH's fourth straight trip to the Hockey East Championship and the Eagles second appearence in the title game.
