Two Women's Ice Hockey Players Named To U.S. National Team

Colorado Springs, CO - Two members of the Boston College women's ice hockey team have been named to the roster for the 2009 U.S. National Team that will compete at the IIHF World Women's Championships in April in Finland according to an announcement by USA Hockey earlier today.
Juniors Kelli Stack and Molly Schaus have been named to the final roster. Stack and Schuas have been attending a tryout/training camp this past week at the Olympic Center at Lake Placid, N.Y. This is the second time Schaus and Stack have been named to the U.S. National Team, they will join 19 other women's hockey players from around the country for the IIHF World Women's Championships in Finland in April. The U.S. as the defending champions, winning gold in the 2008 event in Harbin, China.
Stack, a forward from Brooklyn Heights, OH is the Hockey East Cammi Granato/TPS Player of the Year and the Eagles leading scorer with 57 points (23g, 34a) in her junior campaign. She was a member of the 2008 U.S. National Team that won the gold medal at last year's IIHF World Women's championships in Harbin, China. A member of the 2008 U.S. Select Team that won the gold medal at the Four Nations Cup last November and two-time National Festival and Holiday Camp invitee and member of the 2007 and 2008 U-22 Select Team.
Schaus, a netminder from Natick, Mass. has led the Eagles to a 22-8-5 record with a 1.61 GAA and .940 save percentage, the second best save percentage in Division I women's hockey. She was one of two goaltenders on the 2008 U.S. National Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 IIHF World Women's Championships in Harbin, China. Schaus has also been a member of the 2008 gold medal team from the 2008 Four Nations Cup and two-time member of the U-22 Select Team.
The 2009 IIHF World Women's Championships will take place in Hameenlinna, Finland from April 4-12.
