Four Runners Reach Finals on Day Two of ACC Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Four runners on the Boston College women's track team advanced to the finals in their respective events on Friday during the second day of the 2009 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Rector Field House at Virginia Tech.
Three women qualified for the finals in the 800m. Junior Caitlyn Bailey ran the top time in the prelims with a mark of 2:06.67. Graduate student Mary Heitkamp was right behind her in second place with a time of 2:09.42. Junior Samantha Gawrych will also run in the finals on Saturday after finishing sixth with a time of 2:10.77.
Junior Gretchen Andrus will compete in the final of the mile run after she ran a 4:53.47. She finished fourth in the prelims and was less than two seconds off the leader.
In finals action, the distance medley relay team of sophomore Siobhan Breagy, senior Mallory Champa, freshman Anna Cioffredi and sophomore Madeline Wallace finished third with a time of 11:38.16.
The final day of the ACC Championships begins on Saturday at 10 a.m.
