Boston College Names Neel Bhattacharjee Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Neel Bhattacharjee, the former associate head coach at George Washington University, has been named assistant women's soccer coach at Boston College, according to an announcement made today by Eagles head coach Alison Kulik.
Bhattacharjee comes to Boston College after three years at George Washington, where his primary duties included goalkeeper instruction, recruiting and general team administrative logistics.
"We are thrilled to have someone of Neels' caliber join our staff. Having been an associate head coach at GWU, he comes to the Heights with experience which will enable our program to grow,'' said Boston College head coach Alison Kulik.
Bhattacharjee worked with GW's freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe, who was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. She led the conference in saves in her first season.
A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Bhattacharjee is involved in the Region I and Region IV Olympic Developmental Program as a goalkeeper coach. In 2006, Bhattacharjee was on staff as a coach with the US Under-21 Women's National team for their trip to England and Scotland. He holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" License and USSF Goalkeeper License.
Battacharjee also coaches at the club level. In 2007, he coached the Potomac Cougars and helped the team to the Under-16 boys Maryland State Cup championship. He also worked with the Under-18 team in the first year of the US Soccer Development Academy in 2007-08. Battacharjee worked as an instructor at SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School and Star Goalkeeper Academy, as well as working with the goalkeepers for Bethesda Soccer Club, Loudoun Soccer Club and Reston FC.
Battacharjee is a 1998 graduate of the University of Maryland and earned his master's degree from Texas State University in 2000. He has also completed doctoral coursework at Arizona State University. Bhattacharjee and his wife, Merry, currently reside in Falls Church, Virginia.
