Last Time Out: Shorthanded Success
BC defeated Harvard 1-0 to claim the 2009 Beanpot title on Tuesday night at Matthew's Arena at NorthEastern University. After two periods of scoreless play Harvard went up on the power play with less than 10 minutes left to play in regulation. Junior winger Allie Thunstrom blocked the Crimson's initial shot and scooped up the puck and skated into the Harvard zone before passing to linemate Kelli Stack who was waiting in the slot for the tip in. Stack received tournament MVP honors for her game winner in the championship and three points (2g, 1a) overall in the tournament. Goaltender Molly Schaus earned the Bertagna Award for stopping all 40 of Harvard's shots and 64-of-65 shots in the tournament.
The Series Thus Far
The series is currently tied at one game apiece with BU winning the first match-up of the season 4-1 at Kelley Rink before being shutout by the Eagles 5-0 at Walter Brown two weeks later. The two teams have not faced each other since Dec. 10, 2008.
