Women's Ice Hockey Takes on Harvard in Beanpot Championship

#7 Boston College Women's Ice Hockey will be looking to capture their third Beanpot when they face off against the Harvard Crimson in the championship game on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Matthews Arena in Boston.
History
The Eagles are 4-14 against the Crimson heading into tonight's contest. BC and Harvard last faced each other in the Beanpot in the opening tilt of the 2007 tournament. The Eagles defeated Harvard 4-3 in triple overtime and then freshman goaltender Molly Schaus made a NCAA record 73 saves to advance BC to the championship game.
Last Time Out
The Eagles picked up a pair of wins over the weekend in Hockey East play sweeping a two game home stand with the University of Maine. BC shut out the Black Bears on Saturday afternoon on the strength of two special teams goals in the third period and posted a season-high six goals in Sunday's win.

Maggie Taverna is one of 34 women's players vying for one of 16 spots at the 2009 Frozen Four Skills Challenge which will be held April 10 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Fans can vote online at NCAA.com for Taverna until Feb. 18. A total of 32 senior male and female student-athletes will be selected in this east versus west competition in the following events: puck control relay, fastest skater, hardest shot, accuracy shooting, rapid fire shooting and penalty shot competition.
Hockey East Honors
Junior Kelli Stack was named the TPS Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday for her six points (3g, 3a) in three games last week. Stack had two points in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Northeastern in the first round of the Beanpot and added four points in two games against Maine over the weekend.
