Luthy Earns Soccer America All-Freshman Second-Team Honors

Boston College goalkeeper Justin Luthy has earned Soccer America All-Freshman Second-Team honors, according to an announcement made by the publication on Friday.
Luthy, a 6-foot, 165-pound freshman, went 13-8-0 with nine shutouts, a 0.93 goals against average and a .815 save percentage this fall. He registered a 5-2-0 record with four shutouts, a 0.70 goals against average and a .878 save percentage in seven Atlantic Coast Conference contests.
The Dublin, Ohio, native captures the honor having also received ACC Second-Team and ACC All-Freshman Team accolades in 2009.
Boston College finished its season with a 14-9-0 record and was third in the league standings with a 5-3-0 record.
BC won eight of its last 11 matches, including victories over second-ranked North Carolina (Oct. 17) and second-ranked Wake Forest (Oct. 30). The team entered NCAA Tournament play ranked No. 24 in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) and checked in at No. 21 in Soccer America's final poll and No. 30 according to College Soccer News final rankings.
BC's berth in the NCAA Soccer Championship marked its third straight and ninth overall. The team defeated Dartmouth in first-round action, earned a 1-0 victory at No. 13 seed St. John's in second-round play before falling to Drake 6-4 in the NCAA Championship's Round of 16.
