CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team just completed a very successful fall season. After competing in tournaments at Harvard, New Hampshire and Brown and hosting a tournament against Yale and Vermont, the Eagles are poised for a great 2010 campaign.
With a significant focus on conditioning as well as determining who will fill the shoes of eight graduated seniors, the 2009 fall season was an important one in determining the direction of the 2010 team.
"I am extremely proud of what this team has accomplished this fall," Head Coach Bowen Holden said. "The hard work and dedication they have exhibited is a true testament to the direction we are heading. We are in a good place and have a lot of work still to do but it should be an exciting spring season!"
Senior tri-Captain Lauren Costello has proven she will be the true leader on the offensive end while junior Jill Rekart will play a critical role in leading the defense. Peyton Killeen, another senior tri-captain, will have an important role off the bench at midfield and will see significant minutes this spring. Additionally, freshmen Brooke Blue, Caroline Martignetti, and Ali Meagher have all earned themselves significant playing time through hard work that will likely continue this spring. Blair Clancy, a senior tri-captain who has battled injury much of her career, hopes to return to the field in January after having played an important off-field leadership role this fall.
The Eagles look to get 100% healthy and focus on getting in peak condition over the next few months. Practices will resume in January and the 2010 season begins at Bryant University on February 20.
