The Boston College women's ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with Vermont on Friday night before winning a shootout to grab an extra league point.
The Eagles are now 4-4-6 on the year while Vermont moves to 5-6-1.
BC opened the scoring late in the first period while on a 5-3 advantage, with freshman Ashley Motherwell scoring her third goal of the season. Sophomore Danielle Welch added another goal to the Eagles' lead in the second period on assists from Dru Burns and Katelyn Kurth.
The Catamounts would respond to the Eagles' attack with two goals of their own in less than a minute to tie the game in the second period. BC freshman Blake Bolden tried to push the Eagles to victory with a tally midway through the second period, but Vermont would respond in the third to tie the game at three.
The two teams would end the overtime period without a score and the game would go to a shootout for the Eagles and Catamount to fight for the extra point in Hockey East. Although the first five shooters would fail on their attempts, Bolden would come through for the Eagles one more time and give BC two points in the league standings.
BC freshman Corinne Boyles stopped 34 shots she faced on the evening, as the Eagles were outshot 37-21 in the contest.
The Eagles will return home to Kelley Rink on Friday, November 27, where they will host Minnesota-Duluth at 1:00 p.m.
