CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 victory over NC State on Friday night in the Power Gymnasium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Eagles moved to 12-15 on the year while NC State fell to 7-24
Looking to jump past the Wolfpack early on, the Eagles came out of the first set strong and took a 13-10 lead over NC State before the visitors called a timeout to try and stop BC. The Eagles continued to put pressure on their opponents and although the Wolfpack managed to tie the set at 22-22, BC was able to rally and take the first frame 25-23.
NC State came into the second set with a strong showing, moving ahead 9-12 over the Eagles and making a run at taking the second frame. Not willing to budge, BC came charging back into the match off of 19 kills and a .457 hitting percentage. BC took the lead for good with a 25-18 win.
Needing only one more victory in the third set to seal a win, the Eagles found their stride and never looked back. Despite the Wolfpack nipping at their heels, the Eagles tallied 19 kills and a .234 hitting percentage in the third set to win the match 3-0.
BC was led all around by sophomore Rainey Hanley, whose 17 kills and 15 digs were both tops for her team. Freshman Krissy Mussenden added 41 assists to the cause and junior Melanie Cimino and senior Taylor Williams had 11 kills each.
The Eagles will return to the Power Gymnasium tomorrow, Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m. to take on North Carolina in their final home match of the season.
