The Boston College volleyball team lost to Wake Forest, 3-0 on Saturday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.
BC dropped to 11-13 this season while the Demon Deacons moved to 9-15.
The Eagles managed to fight their way through the first set and come within of the Demon Deacons, putting the score at 11-10. Despite their six kills, the Eagles were unable to contain Wake Forest and the Demon Deacons pulled away to grab an early 1-0 lead in the match.
The story was similar in the second set, with the two teams moving along at an even pace, with the score 23-22 nearing the end of the frame. Five kills by junior Melanie Cimino and 11 assists by freshman Krissy Mussenden were still not enough for BC, as it dropped the second frame, 25-22.
BC tried to turn its game around in the third frame, but the hometown advantage was too strong for Wake Forest and the Eagles' 12 kills and .167 hitting percentage were not enough. The Demon Deacons ended up taking the third set and winning the match, 3-0.
The Eagles were led on offense by senior Taylor Williams' 11 kills and Mussenden's 27 assists. Junior Kristen Baader also tallied 11 digs for BC.
Boston College will return to Chestnut Hill next weekend, where it will take on Georgia Tech on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Power Gymnasium.
