Clemson, SC. - Boston College freshman Victoria DiMartino scored two first half goals as Boston College rolled past ACC foe Clemson, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Historic Riggs Field. The Eagles are now 13-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the ACC.
The Eagles dominated from the start as they fired six shots on goal in the first seven minutes of play. Just 10 minutes into the game, Victoria DiMartino scored off a pass from fellow freshman Kristen Mewis. At the 36th minute in the match, DiMartino gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Junior Hannah Cerrone set up DiMartino on the goal.
Boston College went up 3-0 at the 45th minute on Jillian MacNeil's second goal of the season. Sophomore Julia Bouchelle earned the assist on the play.
Boston College had a 20-1 edge in shots in the first half. The Eagles had seven corners to zero for the Tigers.
Bouchelle gave BC a 4-0 just three minutes into the second half. Bouchelle scored off BC's 10th corner kick opportunity in the match. It was her fourth goal of the season. The Eagles extended the lead to 5-0 when Hannah Cerrone scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute of the game.
BC held the edge in total shots with 30, while Clemson had six. The Eagles also had 13 corner kicks and held the Tigers to zero.
GAME NOTES: The Eagles will host Duke on Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m. ... Victoria DiMartino notched two goals for the third time this season. She now has 13 goals and three assists for a team leading 29 points ... Hannah Cerrone now has a career-high and team leading eight assists ... Jillian MacNeil scored her second goal of the season ... Senior goalkeeper Laura Harvey saw her first ACC action as she entered the game in the 75 minute of the game.
