Boston College finished a three-game home stand last week at 3-0. The Eagles opened the week with a 62-54 win over Miami on Jan. 18. A mid-week win over non-conference foe NJIT (78-50) helped the Eagles improve to 15-4. The Eagles finished the week with an impressive 71-51 win over Clemson on Friday, Jan. 23.
Boston College will play NC State on Thursday, Jan. 29 at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, NC (7 p.m. on ACCSelect). It is the first game the Wolfpack have played since the passing of their legendary head coach Kay Yow.
BC vs. NC STATE
• The Eagles and Wolfpack have played six times. NC State leads the head-to-head series, 4-2.
• The two teams battled twice during the regular season in 2007-08. BC defeated NC State, 60-59, at Conte Forum. The Eagles then played at NC State on Feb. 10 in the Wolfpack's "Think Pink Game", in honor of Coach Kay Yow. It was the second consecutive season the Eagles played in the "Pink Game" at NC State.
• The two teams played for the first time on Jan. 20, 2006 in Raleigh. BC defeated NC State, 75-66, behind 24 points and 10 rebounds from Aja Parham.
• The average margin of victory for NC State vs. BC at Reynolds Arena is 12.6 points.
LAST TIME OUT
Boston College improved to 4-1 in the ACC and 16-4 overall with an important 71-51 victory over Clemson at Conte Forum on Friday, Jan. 23. The Eagles were led by Carolyn Swords with 29 points and six rebounds, while Mickel Picco added 17 points.
Boston College went down at the half 36-33 after leading throughout most of the game. In the second half, Swords scored 19 of her 29 points, 10 in a 13-0 run which Clemson could not overcome.
BC shot 55 percent in the half and 51 percent in the game, while Clemson shot 3-for-30 in the second half and 28 percent for the game. BC also won the battle of the boards, 39-32.
PLAYER NOTES
• Mickel Picco extended her three-point streak to 28 consecutive games, dating back to the 2007-08 season. The Austin, Texas native has 55 this season and 138 career treys. She is fifth on the all-time list at BC for three-pointers made. The record is held by Cal Bouchard with 212.
• Carolyn Swords shot 11-for-13 (84.6%) and had 29 points against Clemson on Friday, Jan. 23. Her previous high in points against an ACC team came on Jan. 10, 2008 when Swords had 28 points vs. Maryland.
• Senior Brittanny Johnson scored all eight of her points in the second half against Clemson. She went 3-for-4 from the field and 1-1 from the three-point arc. Johnson also had three assists and four rebounds in the game.
• Sophomore Jaclyn Thoman matched her season-high with six rebounds in the win over Clemson on Jan. 23. Thoman also had a team-leading five assists in the game.
• Freshman Jasmine Gill hit her first career three-pointer in the first half of the 71-51 win over Clemson on Friday, Jan. 23.
