Chestnut Hill, Mass - Women's ice hockey junior goaltender Molly Schaus has earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league for the fifth time this season according to an announcement by the league earlier today.
Schaus (Natick, Mass.) stopped 35 shots and posted two shutouts in two games against the University of Vermont over the weekend.
It was the seventh and eighth shutouts of the season for Schaus. The victories give her the Boston College records for single season shutouts (8) and career shutouts (15).
Schaus and the Eagles continue their Hockey East campaign with a tilt for first place in the league with the University of New Hampshire in a home-and-home series on Thursday and Friday. BC travels to UNH for the Thursday night game and hosts the Wildcats on Friday at 7 p.m.
