Volleyball Drops Opener of Ram Classic to South Carolina

Kingston, R.I. -In the opening game of the Ram Classic Invitational, Boston College suffered a 3-0 defeat to South Carolina at Keaney Gymnasium.
The loss drops the Eagles to 2-2 on the season after the team's best three-game start since 2003, while the Gamecocks improved to 3-1.
While BC managed a solid offensive attack against the Gamecocks, with a .217 attacking percentage on the match, they could not match South Carolina's potent attack, which registered a .429 percentage with just seven attack errors on the afternoon.
In the first set, the Eagles pulled to within one of the Gamecocks at 9-8 after kills by Tori Thompson and Taylor Williams. But South Carolina used an 8-3 run to put the first set out of reach.
The second set was tied at 8 before the Gamecocks used another mid-game run to go on to win the set 25-16.
In the final set, despite managing 13 kills and just two attack errors for an attack percentage of .393, the Eagles fell again, 25-15.
Jordan Meredith led BC with 11 kills and just one attack error for an attacking percentage of .417. Dani Moskitis recorded 18 assists and 8 digs, leading the team in both categories for the game.
The Eagles will face Stony Brook today at 4:30 pm at Keaney Gymnasium as part of the round-robin event hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
