Tyrese Rice Gains Preseason All-America Accolades

Boston College senior Tyrese Rice gained 2008-09 Preseason All-America second-team honors from Blue Ribbon magazine.
The 6-foot-1-inch guard was joined on the second team by Tennessee's Tyler Smith, Pittsburgh's Sam Young, Arizona State's James Harden and Texas' Damion James.
Blue Ribbon's first-team selections were North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough, Oklahoma's Blake Griffin, Notre Dame's Luke Harangody, UCLA'S Darren Collison and Davidson's Stephen Curry.
Two ACC players were named to the magazine's third team - Duke's Kyle Singler and Miami's Jack McClinton.
Rice averaged 21.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 2007-08. The Richmond, Va., product earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team honors. He also captured All-District accolades from the National Association of Basketball Coaches and from the United States Basketball Writers Association.
Boston College opens its season on Friday, November 14 against Central Connecticut. Game time is 6 p.m. in Conte Forum.
