CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Both Boston College and UCF had an extra week to prepare for the third game following 1-1 starts to their respective seasons as the two programs meet for the first time on Saturday at Alumni Stadium. The game will begin at 1 p.m. and will be televised by ESPNU. This is the Knights' second trip to New England, and first to Massachusetts, in program history.
BC is coming off of a 19-16 setback in its ACC opener on September 6 after shutting out Kent State in the season lid lifter, 21-0. UCF has had a similar road thus far, having lost to No. 17 South Florida in overtime, 31-24, after beating South Carolina State, 17-0.
The game will feature two powerful defenses as BC is coming into the game ranked 15th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing a mere 9.5 points per game. UCF has allowed an average of 15.5 points in its first two games which ranks 30th.
"They're good, especially at defensive back," senior quarterback Chris Crane said. "They have game-breakers. One of their guys is one of the best return guys in the nation. They are all veterans and I believe the starters are all seniors. They have a bunch of interceptions, tackles, and break ups. We have to be smart with the football. We have to put the ball where we want to because if not, they will take the ball and return it the other way."
