Women's Soccer Cruises Past Oregon State, 3-0

Boston College women's soccer team received three goals from three different players as the Eagles defeated Oregon State, 3-0, tonight in a non-conference game on the west coast. The Eagles are now 2-0, while the Beavers are now 1-1.
Boston College will now play No. 10 Stanford on Sunday, Aug. 31 (4 p.m.) in Palo Alto, CA. The Eagles first home game will be on Friday, Sept. 5 when Brown University comes to Newton.
Sophomore Amy Caldwell got the Eagles on the board in the 32nd minute of the game. Caldwell was sent in the box off a through ball from Kelly Henderson. She deposited the shot by an on-coming goalkeeper for the 1-0 BC lead. It was Caldwell's first goal of the season.
Boston College jumped ahead 2-0 when sophomore Brooke Knowlton scored her first goal fo the season. At 55:29, Knowlton one-timed a cross from junior Gina DiMartino. It was DiMartino's second assist of the season.
The final goal was scored two minutes later when sophomore Hannah Cerrone put away a free kick from 23-yards out.
Freshman goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni started her second game but split time with senior Sarah Buonomo in the win. The Eagles out shot the Beavers, 17-4 and had two more corner kicks (6-4) in the game.
