Four Boston College Men's Golfers Named All-ACC Academic

Chestnut Hill, MA - Four Boston College men's golfers were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
Boston College was represented by four players - James Granello, Jan Prokop, Robert Reed and Matthew Ouimet. Granello, Prokop and Reed were three of the 10 repeat honorees from the 2007 All-ACC Academic team.
Granello, a senior from Rumson, NJ, was the second highest finisher at the ACC Tournament for BC (221 - 75, 74, 72). He helped the Eagles finish fifth at the Big Five Championship in the fall. Granello is also a three-time honoree of the Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement.
Prokop, a sophomore from the Czech Republic, finished 13 over par at the ACC Tournament. He was tied for 10th at the Treasure Coast Classic where he was two under par.
Reed, a senior from Claremont, NH, tied for 36th at the ACC Tournament. He shot just four over par, after shooting a second round team low 68. He placed eight at the Treasure Coast Classic, where BC had four golfers shoot under par. Reed is also a three-time Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement honoree.
Ouimet, a freshman from Orlando, FLA, placed second on the team at the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Tournament. He was third on the team at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate Tournament by shooting a season low, 149. Ouimet was one over par at the Treasure Coast Classic.
