Seven non-league games, including home contests against Wisconsin (Oct. 10) and Notre Dame (Nov. 7), coupled with a 27-game league schedule represent the 2008-09 Boston College hockey schedule, head coach Jerry York has announced.
The schedule, in its final form, will be announced on or around Sept. 1, 2008.
The Oct. 10 home contest against Wisconsin will mark the team's season-opening game. BC will unveil its national-championship banner that same night as a final salute to last year's title team.
In addition to hosting the Badgers and the Fighting Irish, BC welcomes non-conference opponents Bowling Green (Oct. 17) and Harvard (Nov. 28 at 4 p.m.) to Kelley Rink.
The road portion of the Eagles non-conference slate includes Dartmouth (Nov. 30) and a trip to Fredericton, New Brunswick for two exhibition games against the University of New Brunswick (Jan. 2-3). BC will compete in the 57th annual Beanpot Tournament in Boston's TD Banknorth Garden on the first two Mondays in February. The Eagles face Northeastern in first-round action on Feb. 2 at 8 p.m.
The home Hockey East portion of the schedule begins on Oct. 24 against Vermont and features two games against Maine (Jan. 23 and 24), Massachusetts (Nov. 21 and Feb. 6), New Hampshire (Nov. 15 and Feb. 21) and UMass-Lowell (Jan. 16 and Feb. 13).
Boston University will make one appearance (Dec. 6) in Kelley Rink in 2008-09.
Quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament will be held at campus sites from Friday, March 12 to Sunday, March 14, while the semifinals and championship are set for Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21 at TD Banknorth Garden.
