CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College sophomore mid-distance runner Caitlin Bailey has been named to the 2008 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Women's All-East Region Team, announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.
Bailey received the honor after her third place finish in the 800 meter run at this past weekend's East Regional Championships.
Bailey clocked a 2:06.42 in the finals and ran a 2:05.34 in the preliminary race. Both times rank among the top five on BC's all-time performance list. Jesse Carlin of the University of Pennsylvania placed first in the finals and Dominique Jackson from the University of North Carolina placed second.
To be considered All-Region the student-athlete must place in the top eight of his/her respective event. Bailey, who qualified for the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this past winter in the 800, earns the All-East Region award for the second consecutive year.
