Durham, N.H. - The Boston College women's outdoor track team tallied six top individual titles in its quest for the New England Championship on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10. The team combined for a total of 131 points in its first place finish out of 31 other New England-area schools.
Leading the Eagles with top individual performances were seniors Alison Fogarty in the 400 (57.14) and Kasey Hill in the 100 hurdles (13.92), sophomore Caitlin Bailey in the 800 (2:08.08), both the 4x400 (3:50.10) and the 4x800 (9:00.11) relay teams and senior Tiana Riel in the heptathlon.
Riel marked her best outing in the heptathlon since becoming a BC track athlete. Her score of 5450 is not only a personal-best, but ranks her second on BC's all-time performance list and is a meet record. Her point total is also over 100 points better then her first score of 5279, which she had at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Other notable performances were sophomore Brielle Chabot (16:44.82) and junior Medena Knespl (16:51.01) in the 5000. Chabot placed second and Knespl placed fourth, marking NCAA regional qualifying standards. Hill's 13.92 in the 100 hurdles is also a regional qualifying mark.
The Eagles will try to tally more regional qualifying performances and compete for another Championship title at the ECAC Outdoor Track Championships, held May 16-18 in Princeton, N.J.
