Head Coach King Named Assistant on U-18 National Team

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College women's ice hockey head coach Katie King was named an assistant coach for the Under-18 Select Team and National Team on Tuesday morning. This will be the second time King serves as an assistant to a national team, as she worked with the 2006 Under-16 team.
The Under-18 Select Team will host Canada in the Under-18 Series from August 20 to 23 in Lake Placid, N.Y., while the U.S. Women's Under-18 National Team will play in January for the world championships (site and dates to be announced). The head coach of Wisconsin's women's ice hockey team, Mark Johnson, was named the head coach while St. Cloud's head coach Jeff Giesen will also be an assistant.
King just completed her first season at the BC's helm, compiling a 14-13-7 record. She skated in three Olympic games, winning the bronze in Torino, Italy. She was also a member of the Women's National Team that won its first-ever gold medal at the 2005 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship. She retired with 265 points in 210 international games and is the all-time leading scorer for Team USA in Olympic contests and the second-highest scorer for the U.S. in all international play.
