Women's Golf Gears Up for 2008 ACC Championship

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's golf team spent the past week preparing for the 20th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship, held April 18-20 at the LPGA International Legends Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Nine ACC schools will take part in the Championship, each sending five members to compete. The teams are split into three groups and will start at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. BC is grouped together with Miami and NC State.
The Eagles will send senior captains Katie Napleton and Lara Smilnak, sophomores Natalie Draganza and Meghan Martinek and freshman Kelsey Rockey to Daytona Beach. Draganaza leads the team with an 80.04 scoring average so far this season. Combined on the year, the five competitors average a score of 81.43 per round.
Duke won the 2007 ACC Championship title and was led by Amanda Blumenhurst, the 2007 individual victor. Boston College placed ninth overall as Martinek led the team with a 37th-place finish.
