Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's track & field teams, with three weeks of outdoor contests come and gone, will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the 2008 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on April 17-19.
Both teams will send over 20 athletes to the competition, held at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility on Georgia Tech's campus. Events will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday and conclude by 5 p.m. on Saturday.
"The ACC conference championships represent an excellent opportunity for our student-athletes to compare themselves with some of the finest track and field athletes in the nation," head women's coach Randy Thomas said. "We are very excited to travel down to Atlanta and get after it."
BC had a total of six scorers at last year's Championships. On the women's side, sophomore Caitlin Bailey placed second in the 800, former Eagle Kristen Coon placed sixth in the steeplechase, senior Tiana Riel took third in the heptathlon and the 4x100 relay team placed seventh. Seniors Patrick Mellea and Jeremy Zagorski scored for the men in 1500, placing sixth and eight respectively.
The Florida State men won their third-consecutive ACC title and the Virginia Tech women captured their first crown at the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
