No. 69 Women's Tennis Drops Pair of ACC Matches

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 69 Boston College women's tennis team dropped a pair of ACC matches during the weekend. The Eagles lost to No. 50 Virginia Tech on Friday, 7-0 and to No. 30 Virginia, 5-2 on Sunday. BC now owns a 9-7 overall record, 1-6 in ACC play.
On Friday against Virginia Tech, the Eagles battled in a 7-0 sweep to the Hokies. BC had several players who struggled due to illness. Lana Krasnopolsky and Dasha Cherkasov played well in doubles action, but lost to Jessica Long and Yasmin Hamza at the No. 2 position, 8-6. It was the first time this year Krasnopolsky and Cherkasov played together in doubles.
Against Virginia, Krasnopolsky picked up win in singles play. The junior won at the No. 1 position against Amanda Rales, 6-2, 7-5.
Alison Wagner had a strong performance, but dropped a three set match against Cathy Nimitz at the No. 6 spot, 4-6, 6-3 and 1-0 (6).
BC won two out of three doubles matches. The 38th-ranked doubles pair of Cherkasov and Lauren Cash defeated Lindsey Pereira and Maggie Yahner at the No. 1 position, 8-5.
Krasnopolsky and Gia Nafarrete won at the No. 3 doubles position against Hampton Williams and Lara Alexander, 8-6.
The Eagles are back on the court, April 5 against the Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables, Fla.
