CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's outdoor track teams begin spring competition on Saturday, March 29, at the Owl Invitational hosted by Southern Connecticut State. The Eagles competed in the Owl Invitational last year, with the men taking seventh place overall and the women taking home a first-place finish.
Highlighting BC's 2007 outdoor season were the performances of sophomore Caitlin Bailey and senior Tiana Riel, who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Bailey competed in the 800m while Riel qualified in the heptathlon. Each hopes to return to the 2008 Championships in June.
Both teams look to improve upon their placements at last year's ACC Championships, held April 17-19. For the first time the men and women will be coached separately, with Randy Thomas coaching the women and Matt Kerr directing the men.
Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m. at the Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn.
