No. 71 Boston College Defeats No. 60 Marshall, 4-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 71 Boston College Eagles swept the doubles matches and took three-of-six singles matches to defeat No. 60 Marshall, 4-3, Saturday morning at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Lauren Cash and Dasha Cherkasov pulled an upset against the No. 16 ranked doubles team of Kellie Schmitt and Karolina Soor. Cash and Cherkasov beat the nationally ranked doubles team at the No. 1 position, 8-4.
Alina Sullivan and Katharine Attwell teamed up to defeated Thaddea Lock and Isabell Raich, 9-8 (5) as the No. 2 doubles team. Lana Krasnopolsky and Gia Nafarrette helped complete the doubles sweep, defeating Yulia Kashelkina and Jessica Keener, 8-6.
Cherkasov, Cash and Attwell each won in singles play at the No. 2 through No. 4 spots. At No. 2, Cherkasov downed Jeanne Schwartz, 6-0 and 6-3. Cash knocked off Karolina Soor, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Attwell defeated Isabell Raich, 6-2 and 6-4.
"I am really excited about the team's performance this afternoon," Head Coach Nigel Bentley said.
"Marshall is a very solid team and extremely well coached. This is a big win for us. We played with a lot of energy and we were very focused. We will enjoy this win for a day and then get ready for ACC rival Maryland on Tuesday."
BC will host the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass., at 1 p.m.
