
No. 54 Women's Tennis Captures ACC Win

WEYMOUTH, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team (9-3, 1-2 ACC) captured its first ACC victory, with a 4-3 win against Maryland (3-8, 0-3 ACC), Tuesday afternoon.
The win marked the first ACC victory for BC since joining the conference in 2006.
BC continued its strong play in doubles matches. Alina Sullivan and Katharine Attwell paired up at the No. 2 spot to defeat Maggie MacKeever and Julia Huschke, 8-5. Gia Nafarrete and Lana Krasnopolsky also contributed a crucial doubles victory with a win against Oksana Krutiyenko and Karin Lundmark in the No. 3 position, 8-1.
The Eagles split the six singles matches with the Terrapins. Lana Krasnopolsky, Lauren Cash and Katharine Attwell all earned wins on the afternoon.
Krasnopolsky downed No. 101 Michal Amir at the No. 1 position, 7-6 (2), 6-1 . Cash defeated Maggie MacKeever at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2. Attwell defeated Julia Huschke in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) at the No. 4 position.
"It's great to get the monkey off our back and win our first ACC match," Head Coach Nigel Bentley said. "It was a great overall team effort."
The Eagles will attempt to win their second consecutive ACC match on March 22 in Weymouth, Mass., against NC State at 3 p.m.
