Softball Loses Pitching Duel In Finale Against NC State

Raleigh, N.C. - In a game that had 11 combined hits but just one run, the Boston College softball team (10-15, 1-2 ACC) dropped its final game of the three game-series against NC State (16-13, 2-1 ACC), 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Dail Stadium.
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Peyton (6-5) shined again for the Eagles, pitching her fourth complete game of the season and mustering three hits, including two doubles on the day. She faced 30 batters, allowing five hits, one run and striking out four.
The only run of the game came in extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Wolfpack put together two decisive hits and one out. With Alyssa Allbritten at the plate, and a runner on third, Albritten singled to center field, scoring Blair Harkey and giving NC State the final 1-0 advantage.
The Eagles collected six hits in the game without putting a runner across. Along with Peyton, junior Renee Ramos registered her 23rd hit of the season. Senior Carley McNary continued her hot hitting with a single and freshman Allie Thunstrom recorded her first collegiate hit in the top of the fifth inning.
BC will play in its first game against an in-state rival, traveling to nearby Boston University on Wednesday, March 19. The game is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
