Women's Hockey to Take on Boston University in Beanpot

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College takes the ice against Boston University on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. at BU's Walter Brown Arena for the first round of the Women's 30th Annual Beanpot Tournament. Northeastern and Harvard faceoff in the first game at 5 p.m.
The Eagles hold a 22-35 Beanpot record, but they are two-time defending champions. They won their first title in 2006 and notched their second a year later. In last year's first round, BC played Harvard to a 4-3 triple overtime, which included sophomore goalie Molly Schaus setting an NCAA Division I record with 73 saves. In the championship, the Eagles defeated the Terriers, 6-1, with the help of junior Meghan Fardelmann's hat trick. Schaus captured the Bertagna Award, given to the most outstanding goalie, and Fardelmann was named MVP of the tournament.
NOTES:
BC has a commanding 16-5 all-time Beanpot record over BU and has outscored them, 108-44.
The Eagles have a 15-2-1 series record against the Terriers since becoming a Div. I program in 1994.
In their first meeting this season, on Dec. 6, 2007, BU defeated BC, 3-2 in overtime for its second all-time win over the Eagles.
Northeastern leads the four teams with 14 Beanpot titles while Harvard is second with 11.
