Softball Falls In Games One and Two Of Bronco Stampede

Santa Clara, Calif. - The Boston College softball team (5-7, 0-0 ACC) fell to North Dakota State (12-3) by a score of 6-1 and to Sacramento State (8-5) by a score of 14-3 in the first day of action at the Bronco Stampede, hosted by Santa Clara Friday.
Sophomore Taylor Peyton shined for the Eagles on the mound and at bat. She had two hits on the day, with a double against North Dakota State. She also pitched two strong innings against Sacramento State, allowing five hits, no earned runs and striking out two.
North Dakota State-6, BC-1-- Junior Savana Lloyd (0-1) got her second start of the season for the Eagles against North Dakota State. She pitched three innings, giving up eight hits and striking out two in the loss. The Bison scored first, driving in two runs in the bottom of the second. They scored five more runs, one in the third, two in the second and one in the fourth, getting a 6-0 lead going into the top of the seventh. With one out, sophomore Taylor Peyton doubled, getting her eighth hit of the season. She then advanced on a wild pitch and scored later on an error by the Bison's right-fielder, making the final score 6-1.
Sacramento State-14, BC 3-- Boston College jumped ahead early, getting two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sacramento State pitcher Brittani Clifford (5-1) gave up four walks, including two walks with the bases loaded, which allowed senior Amanda Booth and freshman Irene Delagrammaticas to score. Freshman pitcher Allison Gage (2-4) got the start for the Eagles, throwing strong for the first two innings, but picking up the loss. Sacramento State rallied back in the top of the third and fourth innings, scoring 12 runs. Gage pitched 2.2 innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs total. Peyton, who came into pitch in the top of the third, faced the final 14 Sacramento State batters, allowing five hits and striking out three. The Eagles were able to score one more run in the bottom of fifth off of sophomore Amy Tunstall's first home-run of the season and ended the game at a score of 14-3.
The Bronco Stampede continues Saturday when the Eagles take on Drexel in the first game at 1 p.m. EST and host Santa Clara in game two at 5:00 p.m.
