Softball Heads to Florida For Second Spring Tournament

Fort Myers, Fla. - The Boston College softball team (2-3, 0-0 ACC) will escape the Northeastern snow as they travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to participate in their second spring tournament. The team will compete in the Spring Break Invitational, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) from Friday through Sunday.
The Eagles, who played in East Carolina's Pirate Invitational last weekend, go into this weekend's tournament with a 2-3 record, having picked up wins against Maine and Ohio. Sophomore Dani Weir leads the team with a .385 batting average and five hits. Freshman Allison Gage tops the team's pitchers with a 0.96 ERA and a shutout.
Tournament play begins Friday with a match-up against St. Bonaventure (0-0) at 4 p.m. The Eagles will then play host FGCU (5-5) at 8 p.m. Saturday's games are slated for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. against South Dakota State (3-1) and Western Carolina (0-3), respectively. Sunday's competition will be a rematch with FGCU at 11a.m, to wrap up the weekend's action.
