Women's Tennis Sweeps Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team won both its matches during the weekend, defeating Brown on Friday, 4-3, and St. John's on Sunday, 5-2. The two wins up the Eagles record to 3-1 overall, 0-0 in ACC play.
On Friday against Brown, BC split the six singles matchups and swept the three doubles matches to earn the victory. Lana Krasnopolsky defeated Bianca Aboubakare at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-2. Dasha Cherkasov defeated Sara Mansur 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 position. Lauren Cash defeated Marisa Schonfeld 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 position.
In Sunday's match against St. John's, Krasnopolsky, Cash, Katharine Attwell and Sarah Svoboda all earned singles victories. Attwell defeated Jennifer Yonkus, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot and Svoboda beat Ashley Harper in the No. 6 match up, 6-1, 6-4.
The Eagles were able to sweep all three doubles matches against the Red Storm, and have not lost a doubles match in three matches this season. The teams of Cherkasov/Cash, Sullivan/Attwell and Krasnopolsky/Nafarrete all went 2-0 in doubles play during the weekend.
The next match for the Eagles is on Feb. 23 against Yale in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
