
Women's Basketball Falls to NC State, 60-41

Boston College ran into an emotionally charged NC State team as the Eagles fell, 60-41, in the Hoops for Hope game at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Boston College was led by freshman Carolyn Swords with 15 points and nine rebounds, while freshman Stefanie Murphy notched her ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. NC State was led by Shayla Fields with 24 points and Khadijah Whittington with 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles went up 6-2 in the first five minutes of the game but an emotional Wolfpack team fought back. NC State behind 13 points from Fields led at the half, 29-21. The Eagles shot just 30 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times.
In the second half, BC started to pound the ball down low and out-scored the Wolfpack 6-2 to start the half. NC State's eight point halftime lead was cut to, 31-25. NC State pulled away at 10:12 in the half when Fields hit a deep three-pointer and the Wolfpack went up 14 points, 44-30. Field's second three-pointer of the half at 6:08 gave the Wolfpack a 51-34 lead as BC continued the throw the ball away.
Boston College finished the game shooting 34 percent for the game and set a season-high in turnovers with 30.
It is the second consecutive season the Eagles played in the Hoops for Hope game at Reynolds Coliseum. Last season NC State defeated BC in the same game last season, 64-46.
