Boston College men's soccer will travel to Blacksburg, Va., for its final regular-season game against Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
BC (8-6-2, 4-3-0 ACC) enters Friday's game having most recently earned a 2-0 league victory over Clemson on Halloween Night.
The Eagles were quick to score against the Tigers as Shawn Chin put BC one goal ahead just more than three minutes into the match. Freshman forward Edvin Worley doubled the team's lead much later, netting his fourth goal of the season at 84:26.
Worley and senior Alejandro Bedoya (2 assists against Clemson) have each scored a team-high four goals, four assists and 12 points this season. Bedoya, a 2007 first-team All-America choice, has done so in 11 games.
Entering Friday's match at Virginia Tech, BC is tied for sixth place in the league standings with nine points.
Virginia Tech (5-11-1, 0-7-0 ACC) is returning to action for the first time since Saturday, Nov. 1 when it fell at NC State, 2-0. The Hokies will finish in ninth place in the league standings regardless of Friday's outcome.
Conversely, Boston College can finish as high as tied for third place with Virginia or as low as where it currently sits - tied for sixth.
The teams - BC and VT - met twice last fall and are facing each other for the first time since the ACC Tournament last November. The Eagles defeated the Hokies 3-1 in quarterfinal-round competition behind two scores from Sherron Manswell and one unassisted goal from Paul Gerstenberger. Seven days prior to postseason competition, BC earned a 3-1 home victory over Virginia Tech in the second-to-last game of the regular season. Manswell also scored twice in the victory while Shawn Chin netted the game's first goal to lift the Eagles to the victory.
