NEWTON, Mass. - Sophomore Shawn Chin and freshman Edvin Worley each scored one goal to lead Boston College to a 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Clemson before 339 fans at the Newton Campus Soccer Complex on Halloween Night.
Worley (1 goal, 1 assist) and senior Alejandro Bedoya (2 assists) each registered multiple-point efforts for the host Eagles (8-6-2, 4-3-0 ACC).
Chin got BC on the scoreboard early, netting his second goal of the season at 3:34.
Worley doubled the BC lead 80:52 later - at 84:26. Bedoya redirected a long free kick from senior Idan Shefler that Worley one-timed into the net. The goal marked his fourth of the season.
BC outshot the visiting Tigers (5-8-2, 3-4-1 ACC), 18-3.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Brown recorded his 26th career victory and third shutout effort of the season.
Worley registered a game-high seven shots (four on net), while senior midfielder Mike Konicoff attempted four shots, including a left-footed blast that ricocheted off the crossbar in the 81st minute.
Joseph Bendik made two saves in net for Clemson, which was credited with a team save off a Worley head ball at 64:04.
One (red) card was issued in the game - to Clemson junior Nathan Thorton at 65:50.
Next, Boston College travels to Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 7 for its final regular-season game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Game Notes: With the win, BC moves into a sixth-place tie (nine points) with North Carolina in the ACC standings. BC has one conference game remaining - at VT next Friday. The Tar Heels have two games remaining - against Wake Forest (Nov. 1) and at Maryland (Nov. 7) ... Clemson finishes its ACC slate at 4-3-1 (10 points) ... Shefler earned his first assist of the season and the second of his three-year BC career ... BC saluted its 11-member senior class just prior to kickoff.
