Seniors Martha Pitt and Lily Beck proved once again that the Boston College Eagles are a force to be reckoned with in women's competition. The senior duo displayed blazing boat speed that enabled them to race at or near the front of the fleet all weekend in the Yale Women's Intersectional. They finished in the top four in eight of the twelve races sailed in a fleet of nineteen schools. They won A-division by seventeen points. For their efforts they have been named the Women's Sailors of the Week by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association. Pitt and Beck led their team to a second place finish behind St. Mary's. The home team, Yale finished fourth behind Charleston. The Eagles and the Elis both qualified for the Atlantic Coast Women's Championship at Georgetown on November 15-16, 2008.
Sophomore Tyler Sinks and Senior Lauren Gillooly put forth one of the most impressive displays thus far this season at the Captain Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth on Mascoma Lake this past weekend. The BC tandem won A-division by forty points. They finished in the top three in seven of the ten races sailed including four race wins. They never finished lower than seventh place in the twenty team field. Having led their team to yet another victory, Sinks and Gillooly have been named the Coed Sailors of the Week by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association.
