Julia Bouchelle's Goal Catapults Women's Soccer Over Maryland

Boston College freshman Julia Bouchelle scored her sixth goal of the season to lead the Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Maryland in an ACC match up in front of 419 fans at the Newton Soccer Field.
Just five minutes into the match, sophomore Brooke Knowlton had a chance to give the Eagles an early lead. Bouchelle slipped a ball through two defenders and Knowlton ran onto the pass into the box. Maryland's goalkeeper Mary Casey (five saves) made a diving save in the box to keep the game knotted at 0-0.
Bouchelle changed the game at 25:11 in the half. The midfielder one-timed a cross from senior defender Brianna Wilson-Byrne. It would be Bouchelle's third game-winning goal. The midfielder from Maryland now has six goals and one assist for 13 points.
The Eagles would produce 11 shots in the first half and force Casey into four saves.
Bouchelle and sophomore Brooke Knowlton led the Eagles offensively with four shots apiece in the game. The Eagles outshot the Terrapins, 16-9. Boston College also had six corner kicks to Maryland's three attempts.
Boston College freshman goalkeeper Jillian Mastroianni earned her seventh shutout of the season as she made four saves in the match.
BC is now 10-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the ACC, while Maryland drops to 5-10-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the conference.

BC freshman forward Stephanie Wirth earned her first career start ... The Eagles are ranked 13th by the NSCAA, 16th by Soccer Buzz, 17th by Soccer America and 22nd by TopDrawersoccer.com ... The Boston College women's soccer program held a special presentation at the half in honor of ALS. The Eagles program donated money to the Mass. Chapter of ALS Research ... The win gave BC 10 wins on the season. It is the 11th time in 12 seasons that Head Coach Alison Kulik has led the Eagles to double-figures in victories. One more win will give Coach Kulik 150 wins at Boston College ... The Eagles will host Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
