Eichler Named ACC Player of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College freshman middle hitter Audrey Eichler earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 4, by leading the Eagles to a 4-0 record in the Boston College/Northeastern Invitational. The freshman also earned Most Valuable Player honors for her role in BC winning the tournament.
Eichler led the Eagles in winning the tournament by sweeping Northeastern, Holy Cross and Sacred Heart, while also defeating New Hampshire, 3-1. During the invitational, Eichler led the team in kills (53) while registering a .529 attacking percentage. The freshman also collected 11 total blocks, eight service aces and eight digs over the four matches.
The best overall performance for Eichler came in a 3-1 win against New Hampshire. In the contest, the middle hitter collected match-highs in kills (18) and service aces (4).
Other members of the BC volleyball team that were recognized in winning the Boston College/Northeastern Invitational include: Kristen Baader, Abigail Hasebroock and Brittany Pierpont. All three players were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Baader totaled 36 digs and 35 kills during the tournament. The freshman's personal best came against New Hampshire when she recorded a double-double. Baader contributed 17 kills and 13 digs in the win over the Wildcats.
Hasebroock collected 30 kills and eight total blocks in four matches for the Eagles. The middle hitter's strongest performance occurred against Northeastern when she totaled 10 kills, three solo blocks and five block assists in the 3-0 sweep of the Huskies.
Pierpont was a large contributor during the tournament for the Eagles at the setter position. The junior dished out a total of 159 assists, an average of 39 assists-per-match. Pierpont also collected 10 service aces for BC.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday, Sept. 7, when they face Michigan State and Wofford College in the Harvard Invitational. Game times are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
