
Women's Ice Hockey Ranks Eighth In National Preseason Poll

Boston, Mass.-- Boston College was ranked eighth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll released on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The Eagles were ranked second in the Hockey East preseason poll released the same day at the media event held at TD Bank North Garden.
Wisconsin placed first in the national poll, earning all 19 first place votes. Mercyhurst College was second followed by Hockey East opponent New Hampshire. St. Lawrence, who will visit Kelley Rink in January, and University of Minnesota-Duluth rounded out the top five.
Harvard and Minnesota, both on the schedule of the upcoming season, also placed above BC. Dartmouth and Ohio State complete the top ten.
In the Preseason Hockey East Poll, the Eagles received two first place votes, while the Wildcats, ranked first, received six. Connecticut followed BC in the third spot. Cross-town rivals Boston University were fourth, while Providence, Northeastern, Vermont and Maine finish out the rankings in that order.
The Eagles open their season at home against Rensselaer on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. They are 6-0-0 all-time against the Engineers.
