Men's Tennis Competes at the Northeast Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Alex Rastorgouev led the Boston College Eagles at the Northeast Invitational by placing second in the Second Flight singles division over the weekend (Sept. 14-16)..
Rastorgouev advanced to the finals where he fell to Matt Gordon of Fordham, 6-4, 6-1. Prior to the finals, Rastorgouev beat Rhode Island's Andrew Costin (3-6, 6-4 and 6-0), Brown's Cody Simmons (6-2, 6-1) and Marist's Christian Coley (6-2, 6-3) over the three day tournament.
Freshman Eric Kreutzer produced a strong showing in the Third Flight singles division, placing fifth overall. After falling to Marist's Landon Greene (6-3 and 6-3), Kreutzer picked up two consecutive wins on Sunday. The freshman defeated Colgate's Michael Yassky (6-1, 6-2) and Villanova's Trenton Alenik (6-1, 4-6 and 10-6).
Another freshman, Brian Locklear, also had a strong outing by finishing fifth in the Fourth Flight singles division. After splitting his first two matches, Locklear went on to defeat James Murphy of Lafayette (6-1, 6-1) and Greg Marks of Marist (6-2, 6-0).
The men's tennis team is back in action on Friday, Sept. 21 at South Florida.
