Chestnut Hill, Mass.--Boston College will open the 2007-08 season at home for one of its 16 games at Kelley Rink, including 11 Hockey East match-ups, according to the schedule released on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
The Eagles take on Rensselaer on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. to start the season. They are 6-0-0 all-time against the Engineers.
The team's first Hockey East contest is at home against New Hampshire on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles finished second in the Hockey East standings to the Wildcats, who posted an 18-1 conference record. BC handed them their only loss.
After facing off against New Hampshire, the Eagles' next 10 of 11 games are conference match-ups, including home games versus Maine, Providence and Northeastern. They travel to Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
The Eagles' non-conference games include January trips to Minnesota and St. Lawrence, and regional games against Harvard, Quinnipiac and Dartmouth.
The 30th Annual Women's Beanpot Tournament will be hosted by Boston University, held at Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass. BC will play BU in the first round on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 8:00 p.m. The final games will be played one week later on Feb. 12.
The Hockey East Tournament will be hosted by the Connecticut Huskies. The semifinal games will be played on March 8 and the finals on March 9. The NCAA Frozen Four will be held in Duluth, Minn., on March 22.
The 2006-07 Eagles finished the season with a 24-10-2 record, 15-6 in Hockey East. The season culminated in a Frozen Four trip, in which BC lost, 4-3, to Minnesota-Duluth in double overtime.
The team is returning all six starters and 20 letterwinners for the 2007-08 season. Five players received Hockey East All-Star honors, which included first-team nods to sophomores Kelli Stack and Allie Thunstrom. Sophomore Molly Schaus and juniors Maggie Taverna and Becky Zavisza earned second-team honors. These five players, along with Meghan Fardelmann, were chosen to participate in the 2007 USA Hockey Women's National Festival over the summer, the most players participating from the same college.
Head Coach Katie King begins her first season at the helm after four years as an assistant coach at BC. The 2007-08 captains are Lee-J Mirasolo, Cristin Stuart and two-time captain Deborah Spillane.
