Golf Teams Begin Fall Tournaments

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The men and women's golf teams opened their fall campaigns by competing in two different tournaments early this week.
The men, who hosted the Mid Pines Invitational in Pinehurst, N.C., tied for fifth in a field of 13 teams. Craig Kublin led the Eagles individually by tying for thirteenth and ending the tournament at an even par with 216. Jan Prokop and Robert Reed tied for 18th shooting a 217 and finishing one-over-par, helping the Eagles to three top-20 finishes.
East Carolina University took top honors in the tournament, finishing 22 under par. Old Dominion golfer Eric Onesi was the tournament's top competitor, shooting a -15 overall.
The women traveled to Lincoln, Neb. for the Chip-N-Club Invitational, a contest that hosted 19 teams from across the nation. The Eagles tied for 12th with McNeese State and were led by sophomore Natalie Draganza. Draganza tied for 49th through the three rounds and ended at 27-over-par, shooting a 240. Sophomore Sara Gogolak was the team's second best performer and finished with a 29-over-par, shooting a 242. She tied for 54th.
Texas State was the tournament's winner, scoring a 45-over-par. Their team leader, Linn Gustafsson, finished the tournament first overall, shooting a 212 and finishing one-under-par.
Fall competition continues when the women travel to the William & Mary Invitational on Sept. 17 and 18. The men will return to action on Oct. 1 and 2 when they take part in the Joe Agee Invitational at Williamsburg, Va.
