Men's Track Competes in SCSU, Stanford Invitationals

New Haven, CT. - The Men's Track and Field team was in action over the weekend, as some athletes took part in the Southern Connecticut State University Invitational and others traveled to the Stanford Invitational.
The Eagles took seventh as a team at the SCSU Invitational, led by senior Louis Canelli, who took first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.96 meters.
Senior Daniel LaFave earned points for BC with a fifth place finish in the 800 meter race, as did junior Frank DiVittorio who finished third in the 1500 meter .
The Eagles fared well in the 3000 meter steeplechase, as junior Josh Springer and senior Stephen Walsh took third and fourth place, respectively. The 4x400 meter relay team took fourth place.
Sophomore Benjamin Kocarnik rounded out the scoring for Boston College with a third place finish in the pole vault.
Out in Palo Alto, at the Stanford Invitational, a handful of Eagles runners competed in an invitational that included collegiate runners, as well as foreign and professional runners from around the world.
Both junior Patrick Mellea and senior Mark Alizzi ran well in their respective groups in the 5000 meter race. Mellea took 13th in his group, with a time of 14:12.92, while Alizzi took sixth in his sectional, with a time of 14:19.54.
The men travel to Durham, N.H this weekend to compete at the Wildcat Invitational at the University of New Hampshire.
