Roundball Club Hosts Men's Basketball Banquet

Senior forward Jared Dudley earned team MVP honors and junior center John Oates captured the Frank Power Memorial Award, highlighting the program's year-end Roundball Club Banquet. The event was held at the Newton Marriott on Sunday, April 22.
Dudley earned ACC Player of the Year honors, All-ACC first-team honors and Associated Press All-America second-team honors after averaging 19.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this past season. He led all ACC players in minutes played, averaging 38.88 minutes per league game. The San Diego, Calif., resident also ranked among league leaders in: field-goal percentage (second), defensive rebounding (second), rebounding (third), scoring (fifth) and offensive rebounding (sixth).
Dudley also claimed the team's Top Rebounder award.
Oates averaged 4.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this past season. The Harriman, N.Y., resident played in and started 31 games in 2006-07.
In addition to Dudley and Oates, five other individuals were recognized at the banquet. Junior Tyrelle Blair captured two honors - Most Improved Player and Defensive MVP; graduate student Tyler Neville earned the team's Academic Award; senior Sean Marshall took home the Coaches' Award; senior Alison Lastowski earned the Mary Kay Waldron Managers' Award; and sophomore Tyrese Rice captured the Playmaker Award.
Boston College finished the 2006-07 season with a 21-12 mark, including a 10-6 record in Atlantic Coast Conference action. BC earned its sixth NCAA Tournament bid in the last seven years, defeating Texas Tech in the first round.
First-year Roundball Club president Mike Dunn welcomed guests at the festivities. Fr. Tony Penna offered the invocation, before Ted Sarandis took over as the master of ceremonies. The evening concluded with a brilliant eight-minute highlight video that had been masterfully assembled by team video coordinator Dan McDermott.
