Women's Tennis Falls At NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. - After falling to 17th-ranked Wake Forest on Saturday, the Eagles headed to Raleigh looking for a win but dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 45 NC State yesterday afternoon at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. Sophomore Lana Krasnopolsky earned her second win in as many days over a ranked opponent but it was not enough as BC fell for the sixth straight time, dropping their overall record to 4-11 and 0-7 in ACC play.
The Eagles battled hard for the doubles point. After the Wolfpack won at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, BC took the No. 2 flight, 8-6. With the doubles match in balance, Berkeley Brock and Kristen Bleakley battled back from an early deficit to snatch the point with a 9-7 win at No. 3 over the Eagles' Brittany Delaney and Gia Nafarrete.
The Wolfpack would control singles play winning four out of the six matches in straight sets, and five overall. At the No. 5 flight, Kate Green took down Sarah Svoboda to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead after a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Lauren Cash did not fare much better as she fell to Alejandra Guerra at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Daria Petrovic, ranked No. 88 nationally and coming off of a win over a ranked opponent Saturday against Maryland, lost the only match of the afternoon for NC State in a three-set marathon to Lana Krasnopolsky. Krasnopolsky won the first set, 6-1, then dropped the second 7-5 to force a third-set tiebreak before prevailing 10-6.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, April 4 when they take on Long Beach State University at 3:00 p.m. in Weymouth, Mass.
